Duties & Responsibilities
As a member of the Harvard University Press financial management team and reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Assistant will be responsible for timely and accurate financial transaction processing including temporary and staff payroll, accounts payable, vendor creation and providing support to the finance team.

Primary Responsibilities include:

Payroll Transactions

• Prepares job data changes and other payroll transactions in People Soft.
• Runs payroll compliance reports, including weekly and biweekly payroll registers and routes for authorization.
• Weekly processing of payroll for 80 employees, ensuring timely and accurate time and absence entry and appropriate approvals and controls have been executed.

Accounts Payable?

• Responsible for updating and maintaining HUP's vendor database information using Oracle Software Application.
• Submit various tax reporting requirements for vendors to Central Accounting.
• Process payment requests using HCOM application.
• Responsible for digital scanning and filing of all HUP vendor payments and expense reports, and their submission to Central AP for payment
• Review and process annual Loeb Grant payments.

Administrative

• Aid Royalty accountant in the preparation of the royalty statements for mailing.
• Distribute Accounting Department correspondences.
• Maintain stationary supplies for Accounting Department.
• Performs a range of other administrative/clerical duties as needed.

Basic Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum one to two years of related experience. Computer experience including strong MS Office skills required. Strong customer service skills, highly accurate, attention to detail, ability to work in a team environment, flexible and ability to multi-task. Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.?
