Canadians Traveling Without Travel Insurance the Dangerous Norm

The Travel Health Insurance Association of Canada (THIAC) reports that over 50% of Canadians will go on a vacation outside the country without travel insurance. Many are not aware that their provincial health insurance pays only a small portion of out-of-country medical expenses.

The study also showed only 40% of Canadian travelers purchase travel insurance on a regular basis. At the same, 4 out of 10 have seen someone in need of medical attention while they were on their travels.

Part of the problem lies in the fact Canadians are not used to paying for medical costs. They don?t think about this when they are planning to travel.

Basic travel insurance is very cheap. Cheap travel insurance will cover you for a whole lot, and a lot of different situations. If you are planning to travel, you have to include travel insurance in your budget.
